Am graig i adeiladu,
Fy enaid, chwilia'n ddwys;
Y sylfaen fawr safadwy
I roddi arni 'mhwys:
Bydd melys yn yr afon
Gael Craig a'm deil i'r lan,
Pan fyddo pob rhyw stormydd
Yn curo ar f'enaid gwan.
Pa Dduw y'mlith y duwiau,
Sydd debyg i'n Duw ni?
Mae'n hoffi maddeu'n beiau,
Mae'n hoffi gwrando ein cri,
Nid byth y deil eiddigedd,
Gwell ganddo drugarhau,
Er maint ein hanneilyngdod,
Mae'i gariad yn parhau.
A gaiff y fath bechadur,
Sydd ffiaidd, aflan, noeth,
O flaen dy orsedd sefyll,
Pan elo'r byd yn boeth?
Pryd hyn caf eglur wybod
Beth yw cyfammod rhad,
A chanu i'm Hanwylyd,
Yn hyfryd dy fy Nhad.
Wrth geisio gwneuthur pob peth,
'Rwy'n methu gwneuthur dim,
Wrth geisio concro 'mhechod,
'Does ynof ronyn rym:
Wrth fyn'd at bob meddygon,
Gwaethygu wnaeth fy nghlwy,
Anturiaf at yr Iesu,
Yn aflan fel yr wyf.
O'r nef mi glywais newydd
A'm cododd ar fy nhra'd,
Fod ffynon wedi'i hagor,
I'r cleifion gael iachad:
Fy enaid, 'hed yn ebrwydd,
A phaid ā llwfrhau,
O'th flaen mae drws agored
Na ddichon neb ei gau.
Am Graig yr iachawdwriaeth,
Fy enaid egwan, cān;
Y Sylfaen fawr dragwyddol,
A'r hyfryd gongl-faen;
Fy noddfa rhag ystormydd,
Fy nghysgod rhag y gwres;
Mae'n ganmil
mwy rhagorol
Na chedyrn furiau pres.
Y Graig sy'n noddfa dawel;
Dymunwn ganu am hon,
Pan fyddwy'n rhoddi ffarwel
Am byth i'r ddaear gron:
O fewn y Graig nid ofnaf
Elynion gwaetha'u gwedd;
O fewn y Graig mi ganaf
Yn ŵyneb angau a'r bedd.
Yn ŵyneb :: Yn ngwyneb

Tonau [7676D]:
gwelir: |
For a rock to build on,
My soul, seek earnestly;
The great firm foundation
To give me confidence:
It is sweet in the river
To have a Rock which holds me up,
When all kinds of storm
Are beating upon my weak soul.
What God amongst the gods,
Is comparable to our God?
He is delighting to forgive our sins,
He is delighting to hear our cry,
He will never hold jealously,
He prefers mercies,
Despite the extent of our unworthiness,
His love is enduring.
Shall such a sinner,
Who is detestable, unclean, naked,
Before thy throne stand,
When the world goes hot?
Then I will get clearly to know
What is a free covenant,
And sing to my Beloved,
In my Father's delightful house.
While trying to do everything,
I am failing to do anything,
While trying to conquer my sin,
There is in me not a grain of force:
While going to every physician,
My wound gets worse,
I will venture to Jesus,
Unclean as I am.
From heaven I heard news
Which raised me to my feet,
That a well has been opened,
For the sick to get healing:
My soul, fly quickly,
And do not lose heart,
Before thee is an opened door
That no-one is able to shut.
For the Rock of salvation,
My weak soul, sing!
The great, eternal Foundation,
And the delightful corner-stone;
My refuge against storms,
My shade against the heat;
He is a hundred thousand
times more excellent
Than firm walls of brass.
The Rock is a quiet refuge;
I wish to sing about this,
When I am bidding farewell
Forever to the round earth:
Within the Rock I shall not fear
Enemies of the worst countenance;
Within the Rock I shall sick
In the face of death and the grave.

O seek a rock to build on, My soul! wilt thou not prove That strong and deep Foundation Which Earth, nor Hell can move?
